Proofreading

Have you ever come across a Cornish wine, boasting of its 'notes of apple, with a hint of pasty'?

Or maybe you've heard about innovative 'green technoogies'?

No? Of course you haven't, because thanks to me I picked up these typos before the copy went to the printers ('notes of apple, with a hint of pastry' sounds so much tastier, and 'green technologies' makes much more sense!).

These are the small things that a proofread picks up at the end of the process. Even if the copy has been finalised and signed off, typos can happen when being transferred from writing to final design. A proofread after the designers have worked their magic gives a reassurance that everything has been checked and pasties won't be tasted in your refreshing glass of wine.

Proofreading doesn't change the meaning or structure of the text, it corrects what is wrong and tidies up at the end of the process:

  • Language: spelling, punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, use of tense, autocorrect errors

  • Consistency: within headings and sub heads, date formats, hyphens, capital letters

  • Layout: functioning URL and hyperlinks, line spacing, image captions, numbering

  • Typography: spacing inconsistencies, font size, font colour, use of bold and italics

Starting from £30 per hour.

"We continue to be delighted with the service Teresa provides. She is very approachable and friendly, but most importantly her professional proofreading makes sure our published projects read well and are always clear of any grammar and spelling errors."
